Cape To Cairo Wines - Syrah - 2007

Deep-red colour; full-ripe, spicy, dark-fruit, vanilla and oak flavour, opening up with white pepper and richness – a real Syrah feel; the taste is fruity, clean, well balanced with a long finish; the wine shows nice oak and reflects an elegant style with a capacity to mature well for the next 3-5 years.

"This Cape Syrah comes in an attractive wooden box on which the label, depicting Africa in its pre-colonial era, is reproduced. The wine has the typical colour of the Syrah (or Shiraz, as it is also called) grape. On the nose one is greeted by ample berry flavours which are carried through on the palate, with undertones of ripe, and some jammy fruits and licorice. After seeming to fall away there is, surprisingly, a sudden blossoming of flavours that linger on the aftertaste.

With an alcohol content of 15% by volume, the wine is ready now but will benefit from two years' cellaring."
